The Bond Clothing Store erected this impressive sign above its Times Square location in 1948. The sign featured male and female nude figures, each 7 stories tall, a waterfall 27 feet tall by 132 feet wide, and a 2 miles of neon. Complaints from the guests of the Astor Hotel across the street caused the store to cover the chests of the figure with modesty cloths, which you see in this black and white photograph. Eventually, the cloths were replaced with gold neon robes. The building is now a Toys 'R' Us.
