Remember when the New York Giants used to be a baseball team? In 1950, when this photo was taken there were three professional baseball teams in the City of New York, the Yankees, the Dodgers, and the Giants. In the summer of 1957, both the Giants and the Dodgers announced their intentions to move to California, bringing the Golden Age of New York Baseball to an end. But in 1950, the Giants still had some history to make at their beloved Polo Grounds. Bobby Thompson's "Shot Heard Round the World" was a season away, and fans would have to wait three years more to witness Willie Mays' amazing over the should catch in the first game of the 1954 World Series.
