In this black and white photo, we look west through Union Square Park with its flower market, toward Union Square West between East 16th and East 17th Streets. Some horses and carts are parked on the right, and in the background, you can see a streetcar rumble past. The building on the far left with the arched window on the fifth floor is the Decker Building, designed by anarchist architect John H. Edelman for the Decker Brothers Piano Company. This building, which was built in 1892, still stands and from 1968 through 1973 most famously housed Andy Warhol's Factory.
